Bad Day Refusal Week - Tuesday- Change Your Playlist.

Bad Day Refusal Week - Tuesday- Change your playlist.
Music is a powerful force that invokes memories whether good or bad.  In this Bad Day Refusal week as much as I love Mary J Blige I cannot listen to "Im going down" and even No More Drama". I might be able to stand a little " enough crying" though. Today I need  Dorinda Clark Cole singing I"m out and over", and Yolanda Adams singing "It's already alright".

Your thoughts control your life. Music is a powerful thought creator. It quickly transfers ideas from one human being to the next in a fast and furious manner. Not only does it transfer ideas it also re-inforces concepts, emotions, and knowledge. It totally blows my mind how people think that negative music has no affect on people. But the truth of the matter is that because your thoughts control your life, music can control your life, because music can control your throughts and even your emotions. There is too much at stake for you to be crying the blues. Change Your Playlist and Change your life.

The Power of a Made Up Mind

I am sharing this with you select few because I know that we are moving from a place of wavering faith to an unquestioning faith that believes that anything is possible and can be achieved. I hope that these things i have learned in my meditation and prayer time will be of a blessing to you.

When the mind is made up or set on an object of achievement with unquestioning unwavering faith that it will keep moving in the direction of the object of which you want to achieve.
Did not our Lord and Savior say, if you have faith the size of a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there,' and it will move; and nothing will be impossible to you.
When your faith is small you still must be sure to have no doubt when you ask for anything.

When the mind is made up it keeps put you right back on track even when you are discouraged. The Clark Sisters sang a song called " Determination". I have listed this song in my Zune playlist as one of my fighting songs. When I began to feel a little too down or when I have been knocked down.
The songs first few lyrics say " A strong will and a made up mind, keep going power, and a constitution".
A made up mind is gives you the power of determination. When you have made up in your mind that you will accomplish anything the power of the made up mind comes together with the power of determination and is even more so strengthened even in bad times.

The Made up mind will cause you to keep fighting even when you're down. I was watching a UFC fight and noticed a fighter pinned down to the ground. There seemed to be know way out for him except for him to give in, but he had already said he was going to win the fight. So he put into action a move he learned called the death triangle by manuevering his legs over his opponents head to a point where he was using his legs to cause his opponenet the inability to breath. Not only did he get out from under but he also won the fight. After the fight was over on the DVD an instructor began to explain the move and said " Never count out a fighter just because he has been pinned down". I nearly jumped off the couch and shouted. Because that is exactly what was happening to me. The made up mind will cause you to use every move in your arsenal to get back up even when you are down. Don't forget to learn the moves though, or the made up mind will be useless.

The Made up mind will bring you closer to the Substance of All Good Things. Ok this is the particpatory part of the note. Nod your head yes to these statements.
God Inhabits the praises of his people right? When the praises go up, blessings come down, right? When you praise God you confuse the enemy, right? Oh Give thanks unto the Lord for he is good, right?.
If you want to be closer to God you have to remain thankful for what he has done in your life and you must be consistent about it. You must make up in your mind to "Bless the Lord at All Times". Make up your mind to remain in a state of gratitude, watch how your life will improve. Your life will improve because your attitude will improve because not only are you grateful but you are actually closer to God.

Well, my little letter is complete. I hope you have somehow been blessed by something I said. Continue to pray for me as well as one another. If you were tagged in this note it is because I know you've been feeling like me, somewhat in an uncomfortable place because everything you want is not in your hand ..YET. Keep the faith even when you feel like it's not happening.

Peace is the Blessing,
Scharlette

Soft

I was out hanging with some friends the other night, performing some Karaoke and watching some people not perform karaoke and Mr. Wonderful (yes he is a local entertainer named Mr. Wonderful) got up to sing " Dance with my father". I had to walk out of the room, and I usually don't but I was feeling a tad bit emotional and didn't quite know why.

This last season I was in a play called 10,000 cigarettes and we ended our play with that song and it was very emotional for me and I heard it again. I never danced with my father but the one thing I miss the most is his embrace. Anyone who has ever hugged my dad knows this feeling. I mean, have you ever had someone to just put there arms around you and hug you with no agenda but to love you? He had that affect on everyone he hugged, held, or embraced. That is what I think that I miss the most about him and probably what most of the people who knew him miss about him.

After hearing this performance of "Dance with my father", I went home and laid in my bed alone and played a song by Boney James featuring Oleta Adams. I had never cried before when I heard that song but this time I did. In my singleness I know that I want from my future husband the same tenderness that my father had with me. The first words she says is "Send me love that's soft". That is what most of us want, not so much a sensitive man but a man who can love us with a gentle tenderness. The climax of the song is when she says Let me know a love that's warm Warmer than the sun and sips of brandy wine The white coals of a fire so warm I'll never tire...Of how he touches me. As I lay there in my bed, I could literally remember the feeling of my dad's embraced, so I closed my eyes, and went to sleep.

I thought I would just share that with you. Don't worry, I am not crying. I am smiling. Because memories are the best things that you can have of someone when they are gone, and it's not the big things like family vacations or things that they bought you, these are all good and well, but just remembering someone’s hug can bring a smile to your face.

Such Beautiful Lyrics:

Send me love that's soft
Let me know a love that's soft
Softer than a cloud
And roses moist with rain
A child's gentle kiss
Make his love soft like this
And send me love that's warm
Let me know a love that's warm
Warmer than the sun
And sips of brandy wine
The white coals of a fire
So warm I'll never tire...
Of how he touches me
Send me love that's soft,
So soft.
So soft
Send me a love that's soft.

Passion

I will never forget these words of wisdom quoted by Whoopi Goldberg in the Hit Movie Sister Act 2. "If you wake up every morning and all you want to do is sing', Girl then you are supposed to be a singer." This is a classic turning point in the movie when Lauryn Hill’s character "Rita" is trying to make up her mind of whether or not she wants to return to her music class which she dropped out of because the teacher was starting to make the class hard. Rita is only 18 when all of this occurred but I find that more and more those of us who are getting older in life are trying to find out purpose amidst life’s changes, challenges, and charges. Changes can be anything from getting married, to starting a new career or graduating from college and not being able to find a job. Challenges can be the same thing but even having to deal with the madness we often times are dealt in our personal lives. For example I lost both my mother and father between the ages of 25 and 26, the time frame that most people would say a young woman in the new millennium would be going through a "quarter-life crisis" I was dealing with things people twice my age are somewhat prepared to handle. When working through challenges we have to sometimes put ourselves and our desires aside to get through the process before we can move forward. And of course the charges of life are such as; get a degree, support yourself, support a child, support a parent, buy a car, buy a house, get out of debt. So what do most of us do? We get a respectable job or at least a semi-decent paying one, we put our dreams and hopes to the side and move into a life of complacency, mediocrity, and just plain being average.

Well, I say NO MORE. No More of being average and being mediocre. Pick up your dreams where you left off in your sleep and make them a reality when you awake.
As yourself, what am I passion about? Get up in the morning and even when you are stuck in the middle of the challenges, charges, and changes in life, always make a move toward those dreams. It's a matter of simply choosing to keep those items on the back burner but never taking them off the stove. Keep the heat on yourself and your dreams.

We often forget the unlimited power that is already working in us (Ephesians 3:20), because our measure of faith in God does not match our measure of faith in ourselves. But as Mary Mary would say; “it’s God in me”. The song says Great is Thy Faithfulness, not your faith but God’s faithfulness. If you keep your confidence in Him you can have an exceedingly abundantly above all you can ask or think measure of Faith. If you haven't realized it God is in us but we must first recognize that he is there, second receive the instruction he has for us in obedience, and then walk out what he has for us in obedience.

Remember God is unlimited. I repeat God is unlimited. Where man is limited God is unlimited. Where man can only see gold in a few mountains, God can create gold in places where there was never gold before. Where man sees billions of dollars in bailouts going to corporations God has an infinite bailout for you. So don’t lose faith. Anything is possible to those that believe.

So I ask you; what are you passionate about? What excites you? What is the thing you’re good at and enjoy? Now to those of you who will receive; I say to you that as you begin to develop the skills attached to your passions your opportunities will increase. Now that isn’t prophecy it is a fact, but you must already have the obedience factor in check. So Now I ask you; what is God asking of you? If you don't think you can hear the voice ask God to show you. He will send people in your path consistently and in frequently. You might for example keep running into someone on a annual or bi-annual basis and every time you connect you feel the leap in your spirit like Elizabeth and Mary in the Bible. Mary the earthly vessel that gave birth to Jesus went to visit her cousin Elizabeth and when Elizabeth saw her, the baby that she was pregnant with leaped in her womb. Who have you missed a connection with that you know you should be connected? And remember; keep that obedience factor in check.

Now we all can move ahead and move forward to getting those things we have been praying for, dreaming about, and known all of our lives we should have. The year is 2010 and it is a year of the divine favor of God. And when you have favor with God, man has no choice but to extend his favor toward you. Keep your heads up friends. Let’s move forward in faith. Amen and Amen.

“Those of us who are strong and able in the faith need to step in and lend a hand to those who falter, and not just do what is most convenient for us. Strength is for service, not status. Each one of us needs to look after the good of the people around us, asking ourselves, "How can I help?” - Romans 15:2

Sailing the Deep Unknown

It' not the blowing of the wind, it is the setting of the sail. It' doesn't matter what boat you're on it matters who is in the boat with you. These are statements we often here in motivational and spirtual teachings and they become so repetitive that we often forget the depth of their meaning. But there is an insight from the boats we must keep in mind.

I don't know if you've watched any good pirate movies lately, but have you ever noticed that when the sail is hoisted or changed it takes more than one person? Storms rise in our lives and put us in the position where fear, anxiety , and panic come to the surface of our motivation. Those are the times when we need to check our sails and check who is on the boat.

Last night I had such a situation and in the midst of the panic, anger, mistrust, and misunderstanding those that were on my boat calmed me down changed my sails for me and sent them in the direction of the place I needed to go. Because of them being on my boat in the moment I was able to give 100% of me in the moment.

We as girlfriends, friends, cousins, sisters, brother's, and lovers must be aware of who we allow to speak into our lives and how we speak into each others lives.  Today ask yourself this question? Who is on my boat? Whose boat am I on? Which direction is my sail set and which direction is their sail set?
